I am not the most powerful healer. Our retreats are not the largest, nor the most successful in the United States. We have very few bells and whistles, and choose to maintain a grassroots mentality. Our vision is humble, but it is also mighty.

When I first started serving medicine, this thought came to me: even if I help ONE single person transform their life, then my work is already complete. Because that one, single person will go on to radically impact HUNDREDS of other people. The ripple effect is gargantuan.

Bells and whistles are unnecessary when we work with Grandmother- the Medicine carries this work in all of Her glory. As facilitators, we are simply there to provide a safe container and help ease the journey. If the Master Architect has drawn up cosmic blueprints, who am I to get in the way?

From what I have witnessed- solid prayer, pure intention, well channeled song and a beautifully tended fire is truly what’s needed to establish the transformation we seek.

This work is not a rat race. Healing cannot be mass-produced. Quality will always supersede quantity. You don’t need a large ceremony, nor do you need 5 different plant medicines. You don’t need 5 star accommodations, and a healer isn’t necessary “authentic” just because they carry a dozen certifications.

Sometimes, these things are wonderful, but don’t make a judgement call based on these points alone. In the age of AI and instant gratification, we often believe what we are told, immediately. We tend to gravitate to things that are outwardly shiniest. We also struggle to trust our own intuition. The medicine teaches us a new way.

If you are considering joining a ceremony, talk to the organizer, speak with prior participants, and if possible, speak directly to the ceremony leader. If you are unable to talk to them, then maybe that’s something you should consider. Ask about intentions. Ask about the container. Ask about the history, and why they chose to offer this work. There is no dumb question. Don’t believe comments on the internet- go to the source directly.

I am certain that in time, we can sharpen our inner knowing to the point where we can hear the quiet voice of truth. It’s always there, beckoning us home.

In closing, I know that our ceremonies aren’t for everyone. Even plant medicine as a whole is NOT for everyone. But I do know one thing– I will always be honest, raw and true within this work. The space we offer is extremely palpable, moving & deeply transformative for so many people who find us.

I hope that more authentic spaces come to America & that folks may easily find what they are looking for in earnestly cultivated spaces.
