Music can be the very thing that guides you to your healing, as an “agitator”, or brings you peace during a challenging moment.
Ceremony gives us the opportunity to connect to every single word, note or chord played. When we are wide open in this way, we are able to receive the powerful frequencies that music provides. In ceremony, music is more than just a performance– it is a prayer that connects us to our human experience. Music can be just as powerful a healer as the medicine itself!
Traditional lineages say that the medicine person channels the essence of the plants through their voice and brings the participants closer to the medicine itself. They call these icaros, hinos, pontos or kene in some traditions. They believe these songs can even help a person heal on a physical level. Regardless of the tradition, most everyone agrees on one thing- music is the Great Mystery that makes the magic happen!
At Maharani Medicine, we are blessed with many musical gifts that we are honored to share with those who join us. Eliana has studied music for 20 years, and brings her studies to the medicine space with joy. Eliana also has many medicine songs that were written during, and for ceremony.
